Founder and Tutor
Mitch and Kyle met in the mathematics undergraduate program at Colorado State University (CSU). After 10 years of professional experience (using their math skills daily), they joined forces and started Master Advantage Tutoring with a mission to accelerate the math and science education in their community.
Kyle’s lifelong passion has always been education and in 2013, graduated from CSU with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a concentration in education and earned his Colorado Teacher’s License. He taught mathematics for 5 years at the high school level from Algebra I to AP Calculus. In 2016, he finished his Master’s in Natural Science Education, received an endorsement to teach science at the high school level, and is currently Vice Principal at Greeley West High School. He has expertise in best-practice instructional techniques, and a deep understanding of how the brain learns science and mathematics.
Mitch has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from CSU and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colorado Denver. Mitch brings experience from his career as a corporate financial analyst and financial systems consultant. He understands the value and importance of mathematical skills as they pertain to solving problems in business, in one’s career, and in their personal life.
Mitch grew up in Aurora, Colorado. He has been a lifelong skier and snowboarder, loves hiking with his dog, and blogging about accessibility software!
Kyle Appelhans was born and raised in northeastern Colorado, and has called Northern Colorado his home for the last 12 years. When he is not in the classroom, or working on his Master’s in Educational Leadership he is spending time with his wife and 3 children enjoying sporting events and being outdoors.
